Initiated from a personal experience of riding a motorcycle along Bangkok’s rough, uneven streets, this journey merges with the memory of Mittraphap Road—a symbolic route leading back to the artist’s hometown. Tada Hengsapkul, a contemporary artist known for his video works, photography, and installations, often invites viewers to engage with or immerse themselves in environments infused with a militaristic aesthetic.

In this exhibition, Tada offers a layered interpretation that steps beyond conventional boundaries. Through distorted landscapes and surreal representations, he confronts Thai society’s structural problems and inequalities, especially the state’s repeated administrative failures. His work reimagines the perpetually unfinished road as a symbolic resistance to the polished, propagandistic visions presented by the state.

“The hpargotohp reflects and teases the image of a strangely mundane appearance. Capturing happenings that invite questioning within an almost monochrome scene, these images transform into photographs that narrate the story of the friendship road. Like a postcard, a different face invites you to travel, experience together, to exist and be outside – within- between this artificial image.”
